La entrada es gratis y el público podrá adquirir su música, además de un folleto bilingüe con fotografías y documentos sobre la vida y la obra de éste gran músico colombiano. Habrá proyección de imágenes y música en vivo.
El musicólogo Mariano Candela vendrá de Colombia a disertar sobre ‘El negro Meyer’.
Presentación a cargo del investigador Néstor Gómez y participación especial de
Javier Castaño, director del periódico Hoy Nueva York.
El legado musical de Luis Carlos Meyer, conocido como El rey del porro colombiano, será recordado en el décimo aniversario de su muerte en la ciudad de Nueva York. Fue el primer cantante rítmico que tuvo Colombia y el compositor de temas como Trópico, Micaela, Linda jarochita, Nochebuena, La historia y Baila la cumbiamba. Meyer también fue el primero que llevó los ritmos de la Costa Atlántica como el porro y la cumbia al interior de Colombia, Centroamérica, México, El Caribe, Canadá y los Estados Unidos.
